Most two-way radios use nickel-cadmium batteries since these batteries are durable, can maintain a steady high capacity and low internal resistance through most of their service life. However, nickel-cadmium is receptive to memory and periodic discharge cycles will be needed to prevent crystalline formation on the plate cells. But NiCd batteries are highly recommended for all brands of two-way radios and we carry a fantastic selection of 7.5, 9.6 and 12-volt batteries for your two-way radio needs.
Nickel metal hydride is also a good battery for two-way radios since they are not as receptive to memory build up as NiCd batteries. NiMH batteries can perform at high levels with only one full discharge once every 3 months, start with good capacity and low internal resistance.
